Siding Repair and Installation

Rotted boards replaced, loose panels fixed and new board-and-batten siding installed, so water stays out of your walls.

New board-and-batten siding around windows and a door

Siding takes a beating in west Georgia. Summer heat, heavy storms and humidity work on it year round, and once water gets behind a cracked board or a loose panel, the wood underneath starts to rot. We do siding repair for a few bad boards and siding installation for whole walls, including board-and-batten.

What we handle

  • Replacing rotted, cracked or split siding boards
  • Re-securing loose or wavy vinyl panels and replacing broken ones
  • Storm and impact damage: limbs, hail dings, mower and trimmer damage near the ground
  • Patching holes from old fixtures, satellite mounts and woodpeckers
  • New board-and-batten siding on walls, gables and additions
  • Trim boards, corner boards and the caulking around windows and doors
  • Priming and painting new wood so it matches and lasts

Signs your siding needs attention

  • Soft spots when you press on a board, or paint that keeps peeling in the same place
  • Gaps at corners and around windows and doors
  • Panels that rattle in the wind or bulge away from the wall
  • Water stains or mildew on the inside wall behind it

Fixing a small problem early is a lot cheaper than chasing rot into the wall framing later. Our guide on caulking windows and doors covers one of the easiest ways to keep water out.

Repair or replace?

If the damage is limited to a few boards or one side of the house, repair usually makes sense. If boards are failing all over, or the siding is so old that matching it is impossible, new siding on a wall or the whole house can be the better use of your money. We'll look at it and tell you straight.

New siding is also a good time to deal with paint. See our exterior painting page, and if your porch or deck is showing its age too, we do porch repair and deck repair on the same visit.

Common questions

Can you match my existing siding?

Often, yes. Common profiles are still made, and wood can be milled and painted to match. If an exact match isn't possible, we'll show you the closest options before any work starts.

Do you install new siding, or just repair it?

Both. We replace a few bad boards, and we install new siding on walls and additions, including board-and-batten.

Will you paint the new boards?

We can prime and paint new wood so it matches and is protected. Just ask when you get your estimate.

My siding is soft near the ground. What does that mean?

Usually rot from water splashing back or soil sitting against the boards. We replace the bad boards and can tell you what's causing it so it doesn't come back.
