Bedroom Makeover: Paneling to Smooth Painted Walls
Dated yellow paneling was finished smooth and painted, with a teal accent wall and a sliding barn door.

This bedroom makeover started with yellow paneled walls and visible batten strips, the kind you see in a lot of older homes and mobile homes around here. The before photos show the seams being filled and finished so the walls would read as smooth drywall instead of paneling.
Once the walls were flat, they got fresh interior paint: soft gray on most of the room and a teal accent wall by the window. A sliding barn door now covers the doorway, which saves floor space a swinging door would take up.
Finishing over paneling like this is often quicker and less messy than tearing it all out. Our drywall repair page explains more about how we get walls smooth.
